Respite Caregiving Services
Benefits Available
Up to 336 hours of care annually from a contracted licensed home care agency (HCO). Provides relief and respite for the primary caregiver.
Who Can Benefit?
Almost all Medi-Cal Members who currently have a primary caregiver or family support which allows the recipient to age in place at home. (No IHSS Requirement)
Personal Care and Homemaker Services
Benefits Available
Between 11.75 – 45.75 hours per week of home care services through a contracted licensed Home Care Agency Service authorizations can last up to 6 months.
Who Can Benefit?
Medi-Cal Members who currently have approved IHSS hours but need additional hours of caregiving support.
Medi-Cal Members who are waiting for IHSS approval (Have submitted an IHSS Application)

CalAIM Request for Service
Medi-Cal members in Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties are now eligible for No-Cost home care services by Home Care Organizations (HCO’s) through the CalAIM program. The CalAIM program is intended to give respite and supplemental non-medical homecare services for Medi-Cal recipients who either have applied for In-Home Support Services (IHSS) and are waiting for benefits or are currently receiving IHSS benefits but require additional hours of support.
